Rich and yet poor by Mark Beckham
Mark Beckham Creative Writing “Let me get that giant gold rope chain right there for $3500.” said Louie. “And let me get that 4 finger ring that say “paid” too.” As Louie was walking out of the Jewelry store you could hear people mumbling, “Louie could buy anything he wants.” Another person said, “He has all that money and yet he is stingy and cheap.” Louie was a very rich man compared to everyone in his neighborhood. He became so rich because his grandmother on his father’s side had past away and he had inherited her fortunes of around $750,000. He was that lucky guy that everyone wanted to be--at that time. After Louie had gotten the money, the only thing that he had ever bought responsibly with the money was a nice house for his mother. It was a two story house with two huge bedrooms, a backyard for her to continue to grow her gardens, and a huge basement. His mother was the only person he bought anything for besides himself. He didn’t care about his twin sister who was a single-parent mother who had four kids and was living off welfare, he didn’t care about his older brother who was in jail and could be bailed out with a price of $5000, and he really didn’t care about his younger brother who was roaming the streets because he was a drug addict. Louie only cared for his mother and him self. Louie began to gain a lot of friends now that he had money. His only friend that wasn’t trying to be his friend only because he had money now was his friend Leo. Louie and Leo had been the best of friends since high school, they have had times when they both had money and spent it responsibly and they have had times when they were both flat broke. So Leo was the only true friend that Louie had. Then some guys named Terrell and Cedric nicknamed Rell and Ced began to become “so-called” friends. Everyone in the neighborhood new that they were big time drug dealers and that they were only hanging with Louie because of his money but for some reason Louie didn’t see it that way, he thought that they were his real friends and that weren’t gold-digger’s. One day when Leo went to Louie’s house he saw Louie and Troy together sitting on the couch. Leo was enraged because he knew that Troy was crackhead who was strung out on almost every illegal substance imaginable. Leo said, “I knew that this was going to happen, you started to hang around Rell and Ced and now you’re using drugs.” Louie said while slurring his words , “ Naw I don’t use drugs. I just wanted to try it this one time to how it is.” Leo said, “Don’t you know that that is all it takes for you to get addicted.” With no response from Louie, Leo left Louie’s house in disappointment. The very next Leo went to Louie’s house looking for him. Louie’s mom answered the door and said with a soft and desperate voice, “Leo don’t let my son become a victim of the drug game. He is just a foolish man with a lot of money and no common sense.” In the end Louie died of drug abuse and spent all his money

Exposition
1. The story takes place first in a jewelry store then in a house. It doesn’t really state when.
2. Louie’s grandmother past away and has left him a lot of money.
Conflict and Climax
1. The central character faces the problem that he’s selfish and doesn’t know who his true friends are.
2. At the end of the story.
Denouement
1. The end of the story is boring.
2. I think you could add a part about Louie realizing that Ced and Rell are not his real friends.
Characterization
1. Louie is the main character (protagonist). Leo is Louie’s best friend. Rell and Ced become Louie’s friends, Louie’s mother. Troy is the crack head.
2. He tells us that the main character is selfish except to his mom. He gets what he wants. He only has friends because he has a lot of money.
3. I learn that Louie is greedy, he’s adventurous (because he was willing to try drugs), and that he likes to buy immaterial things.
4. I think that Leo should play a bigger part in the story by trying to tell Louie about Ced and Rell, and try to convince Louie not to use the drugs.
Oh yeah Mark check your grammar you have some missing words in your story.

2. SUGGEST AN EXTRA SCENE TO STRENGTHEN THE PLOT.
You should add a scene about how Rell and Ced became friends with Louie.

We can infer that he is easily influenced, from the way he falls into his fake friends' trap.
4. SUGGEST AN ADDED DETAIL TO STRENGTHEN THE DESCRIPTION OF ONE MAJOR OR MINOR CHARACTER.
An added detail could be a brief description of Louie's childhood. What made him only care about himself.
